Cheyenne Shelter Takes in Over 75 Animals From Dire Situation
The Cheyenne Animal shelter is caring for more than 75 animals, including dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens, small birds, and even a goat, who were found living in horrific conditions next to dead animals at a Cheyenne-area property Friday morning.
According to Niki Harrison, director of development at the shelter, many of the animals were found injured, sick, and severely neglected.

“Our team is heartbroken, but we’re ready to help,” said Harrison. “These animals have endured unimaginable suffering, and they deserve a chance at safety, healing, and love.”
Harrison says early estimates suggest medical treatment, food, housing, and long-term rehabilitation for the animals could reach $150,000.
How You Can Help
Those wishing to make a monetary donation can do so by visiting cheyenneanimalshelter.org or by visiting the shelter in person at 800 Southwest Dr.
“Every dollar will help ensure that each of these animals gets the second chance they deserve,” said Harrison.
The shelter is also in need of extra-large blankets, towels, hay, hot dogs, whipped cream, goat pellets, veggies, dog toys, and elevated bowl stands, as well as all kinds of bird supplies, including perches, pellets, interactive toys, cuttle bones, vitamin blocks, cage-mounting baths, and food and water dishes.
Harrison says at this time, the animals are not available for adoption or foster.
What’s the Status of the Case?
The shelter says it can’t comment on the case or provide updates, as it’s not responsible for the ongoing investigation nor the issuance of any citations or charges.
It encourages the public to look into Wyoming's laws governing animal care, cruelty, and neglect, and to speak with their elected officials if they would like to see changes made to help prevent large-scale neglect cases like this from happening in the future.
