A bicyclist was seriously injured Sunday evening when they were struck by a vehicle in southeast Cheyenne, police say.

According to a department Facebook post, the incident happened in the 800 block of North College Drive, about a mile north of the Walmart located at 580 Livingston Ave.

"The Cheyenne Police Department is currently investigating," the post reads. "Please avoid the area and consider alternate routes."

Cheyenne Bike Crash Victim Life-Flighted to Colorado Hospital

A 26-year-old Cheyenne man who was hit by an SUV while riding his bicycle in southeast Cheyenne Sunday evening has been life-flighted to a Colorado hospital, police say.

Public Information Officer Alex Farkas says the crash happened around 6:15 p.m. near the 800 block of North College Drive.

Farkas says preliminary details show that the man was riding in the southbound lane when he was struck by a gray Dodge Journey traveling in the same direction.

"The man was wearing dark-colored clothing and his bicycle did not appear to have any lighting," Farkas said in a news release Monday afternoon.

"The driver showed no signs of impairment and remained on-scene to assist officers with their investigation," she added.

The crash remains under investigation by the Cheyenne Police Department.
