Some of us are old enough to remember when a number of TV shows featured Private Investigators.

It was a big thing for a while.

Some favorites were The Rockford Files, The Rockford Files, Magnum, P.I., Monk, Sherlock, Veronica Mars, just to name a few.

But how many P.I.s are out there, really?

Much more in a big city, for sure.

But what about in a state like Wyoming?

Enjoy a few scenes from the hit show The Rockford Files.

Here is a short list of a few key Wyoming towns.

The work of a P.I. is nothing like what you saw on television.

TV makes it look glamorous and dangerous.

That's why we loved Magnum P.I.

Most of these investigators work for law firms that need information on the cases they are working on.

Private investigators conduct investigations for legal, personal, and business matters by gathering, analyzing, and reporting information.

This often involves interviewing people, conducting background checks, performing surveillance, and tracking down various forms of legal, personal, and financial information.

They may work for individuals, attorneys, or businesses, offering services that support or differ from law enforcement.

So if you were thinking car chases and gunplay while solving a murder mystery that the cops couldn't solve, you would be way off. But only because you were deceived by how Hollywood portrayed the profession.
