New Road Art, Dell Range BLVD in Cheyenne
If you are driving down Dell Range BLV in Cheyenne, Wyoming, you might notice that the cement wall under the airport and National Guard base is getting an interesting paint job. It's being done by the same artist who painted those water tanks that sit high above the East Ridge Mall.
Jordan Dean was hired through the Wyoming Air Guard to paint the wall. They nicknamed the wall THE BIG SLAB. The slab was built in sections that make a perfect grid for Jordan to lay out artwork of this size.
If you look at it up close, you'll see words lightly painted in different areas that tell what color to paint there. That is for the people who will fill in large sections with color.
Jordan said that he would not be able to do it all by himself. It would take too long. Once all of the base coats are down, Jordan will come back and put in the finer details.
There is even a phone number painted on the BIG SLAB for the airguard.
Jordan estimates that he has two or three weeks left to paint. He has purchased hundreds of spray paint cans for this job. More than he has ever purchased for any other job.
Getting up and down the slab is hard on the ankles. That's partly why he uses a lift that you'll see parked on the side of the road on the walkway.
Jordan is easy to talk to, and you can follow him on his Facebook social media account. He travels all over doing mural artwork, but he is a Cheyenne resident. Go on and honk and wave at him as you drive by.

The artists then outline the photo.
From there, it's just a matter of adding color and shading. But, then again, the color and the shading are the hard part.
