Strange People We See At Wyoming Convenience Stores
Walk into any Wyoming gas station/convenience store, and you'll see the same kind of people, mostly depending on the time of day. Let's run the list. Be careful, because you are on this list somewhere.
4 am, THE HUNTER. Don't sneak up on them, over in the jerky aisle.
The Energy Drink Sommelier over by a glass cooler debating between Monster Pipeline Punch and Ghost Sour Patch Kids.
The Lottery Ticket Mathematician holding a dime like a surgeon's scalpel and working a scratch card. They will hold up the entire line at the register to scratch off three $5 tickets right on the counter, immediately reinvesting the $2 winnings into another ticket.
The "Just Passing Through" Overlander Hiker. They are dressed head-to-toe in Patagonia, clean hiking boots, and a slightly lost expression. They buy expensive coffee, trail mix, and granola bars and drive an overpriced trail vehicle.
The 4:30 am fisherman with a fishing vest and buying ice for no reason that we can figure out other than that he hopes to keep cool the fish he catches.
The Local Historian wears overalls, a faded seed cap, and a silver mustache. He likes to talk about what was on this land before the store came.
The PJ Pant Person. PJ pants and a hoodie with an energy drink and a scratch off ticket.
Also look for minivan keys-on-a-lanyard situation, yoga pants, and a look of pure exhaustion.
The Redbull guy. An armful of energy drinks. Nobody has seen him blink.
The Bro-Truck Driver. Sunglasses resting on the back of their neck, gym shorts, and a lifted Dodge Ram idling loudly outside.
The Interstate Drifter. Look for sweatpants, a mismatched hoodie. Waiting for a microwaved breakfast burrito to finish warming.
The cowboy. Comes in and gets his coffee. Pickup truck usually pulling a trailer full of work equipment or animals.
The Refill Mug Guy. Has been using the same refill mug since 2008. He is proud of it.
