Hunt A Wyoming Bison – For A Good Cause

Imagine being able to hunt a prize Wyoming bison, keep all the spoils, including the coat and the head, mounted. That is not a thing of the past. You can do it, and for a good cause.

The Laramie Peak Fire Zone Foundation hosts an annual buffalo hunt raffle to raise money for their local volunteer fire department near Wheatland, Wyoming.

Tickets cost $5 each or 5 tickets for $20.

Prizes: The grand prize is a guided buffalo hunt, often hosted in cooperation with the local Twin Pine Bison Co. ranch.

The bison of the Twin Bison Ranch run free range over our ranch and are raised and harvested in their natural habitat.

During the hunt, they will drive as close to the herd as the buffalo and the terrain allow before “dismounting” and continuing by foot. Depending on the terrain, you may have a long or short walk-in. This is a hunt for experienced hunters. Bison are not easy to kill and require an experienced and accurate marksman.

The Laramie Peak Fire Zone was established as a Non-Profit Rural Fire Zone in 1965. The Cottonwood Fire of 1964 brought home to the local residents of the Cottonwood Park area of Laramie Peak just how much they needed to protect their own.

Holding fundraisers, obtaining a Clark-McNary Grant, and working with Wyoming State Forestry, they were able to procure some fire trucks. LP-1, pictured above, was the first truck they acquired. The tank was built from the boiler salvaged from the Old Hospital of Wheatland, WY.
