
THIS WEEKEND: Poker Run For Wyoming Fire Department
It is the little fire station that could, and they have big responsibilities. They are all volunteer and get their funding from a yearly charity poker run event.
The Laramie Peak Fire Zone (LPFZ) is a volunteer organization providing wildland firefighting services for a 250-square-mile area around Laramie Peak in Wyoming. Based in Wheatland, they protect rural residents in Albany, Platte, and Converse Counties. It is important to distinguish the LPFZ volunteer group from the US Forest Service’s "Laramie Peak Area" management unit.
The 17th Annual Laramie Peak Fire Zone (LPFZ) Foundation Poker Run & Raffle is scheduled for Saturday, May 23, 2026, beginning around 8:00 AM MDT. The event takes place in the vicinity of Esterbrook and Wheatland, WY (1836 Cottonwood Park Rd), benefiting local fire services.
Poker Run: Features a 17th annual poker run with a live auction and local beef burgers for the meal.
Raffle: A 2026 Polaris Ranger SP 570 UTV is being raffled off, with the winner announced at the run.
Registration: Pre-registration opens March 23, 2026, offering 10% off entry fees, plus an exclusive koozie and lanyard, via the LPFZ Square Site.
Auction Items: Include a pheasant hunting trip, a fly fishing trip at the Miracle Mile, and 1/2 a beef.
