Roadtrip To Wyoming’s Frontier Auto Museum

Way up in north-central Wyoming is one of the best little auto museums in the nation, and well worth the drive for the visit.

The Frontier Auto Museum is a 13,000-square-foot museum featuring vintage automobiles along with many of their accessories.

As you tour the rooms, you'll find that each one uniquely showcases retro styles from the 1900s-1950s and is decorated with artifacts. Walking slowly and looking around, all around, even above. There is almost too much to see.

A favorite of visitors is the "Drive-in theater," which screens classic movies. Show this to your kids and explain how things used to be.

A mining room with a model railway, and a soda fountain/pharmacy where visitors can sit in and enjoy ice cream, pinball machines, and classical music.

This place is a real trip back in time that makes stepping outside again a bit of a letdown.

The little cafe is a great place to take a break, have a snack or lunch, before continuing your self-guided tour. That's why I recommend taking more than just an hour to visit this place. Make it a good part of your afternoon.

Frontier Auto Museum opened in January 2016 by founder Jeff Wandler and his family. They did not pick just any building. They chose the historic 1949 Ford dealership. That was a 13,000-square-foot space. It's HUGE!

Motorbike lovers will enjoy walking around as well. There is plenty for them to see, as well.
