Barrasso Berates Democrats Over Another Gov Shutdown
Wyoming's Senator John Barrasso is not happy with Senate Democrats, especially Chuck Schumer. Democrats are once again threatening a partial government shutdown if they don't get their way.
Senate Democrats laid out a list of demands to overhaul U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This is a must-pass spending bill as Congress raced toward a partial government shutdown that could begin early Saturday.
Democrats are once again prioritizing illegal immigrants over American citizens. And once again, Democrats are threatening to shut down the government. Democrats want to see chaos all across America. And once again, Republicans are committed to keeping the government open. (Wyoming Senator John Barrasso).

Senate Democrats want officers take off their masks and identify themselves and obtain warrants for arrest. If those demands are not met, Democrats say that they will block a wide range of spending bills that would lead to a partial government shutdown.
The last government shutdown was one of the longest in our nation's history, and it happened just a few months ago.
From October 1 to November 12, 2025, the federal government of the United States was shut down as Congress failed to pass appropriations legislation for the 2026 fiscal year. The Republican-controlled House of Representatives advanced a continuing resolution, but Senate Democrats repeatedly blocked it.
Eventually, the democrats caved. The 12 appropriation bills for the year had been enacted at that time. Because lawmakers could not enact timely appropriations for FY 2026, the government shut down for the longest period of time in history — 43 days. That government shutdown ended because a CR was enacted on November 12, 2025 to provide temporary funding for federal agency operations through January 30, 2026 at FY 2025 funding levels.
