Usual Suspects Top the 2026 WyoPreps Preseason Football Polls

The first football rankings in the 2026 Wyoming High School football season debuted on Saturday with the WyoPreps Coaches and Media Preseason Football Poll. We gave head coaches and media representatives statewide the opportunity to vote in the poll. Three of the five defending state champions begin the year at No. 1. That’s Sheridan in Class 4A, Star Valley in 3A, and Pine Bluffs in 1A 9-man.

PRESEASON WYOPREPS COACHES AND MEDIA FOOTBALL RANKINGS 2026

Two teams that finished runner-up last fall, Big Horn in Class 2A and Burlington in 1A 6-man, topped their respective classifications. The Rams in 2A were the only top-ranked team that was a unanimous choice for the top spot. At the other end of the spectrum was 9-man, where five teams got at least one first-place vote. That class also had the only team that had a semifinalist last fall that did not make the preseason top five. Also, at least nine teams in each class received votes. The other poll oddity was two ties within the top five of Class 2A.

Class 1A 6-man:

1 = Burlington

2 = Little Snake River

3 = Encampment

4 = Hulett

5 = Riverside

Class 1A 9-man:

1 = Pine Bluffs

2 = Greybull

3 = Rocky Mountain

4 = Big Piney

5 = Saratoga

Class 2A:

1 = Big Horn

2 = Mountain View

T3 = Lovell

T3 = Torrington

T5 = Cokeville

T5 = Thermopolis

Class 3A:

1 = Star Valley

2 = Cody

3 = Riverton

4 = Jackson

5 = Lander

Class 4A:

1 = Sheridan

2 = East

3 = Campbell County

4 = Central

5 = Natrona County
