WyoPreps Releases 2025-26 Preseason Basketball Rankings Ahead of Tipoff

The preseason basketball rankings from WyoPreps.com were released. Just ahead of the new 2025-26 season, the WyoPreps Coaches and Media Preseason Poll for girls’ and boys’ basketball provided a possible preview of how things might turn out in March 2026. No defending champion started the season at the top of the girls’ rankings. They were either at No. 2 or No. 3. Last year’s runner-up led each girls’ classification. The boys had three defending champs in the No. 1 position. The only division that didn’t happen was in 4A.  The preseason favorites in girls’ hoops were Cokeville, Wyoming Indian, Cody, and Sheridan. For the boys’ side, it was Lingle-Ft. Laramie, Thermopolis, Lovell, and Sheridan.

Sheridan was the only school that had both its girls' and boys’ teams ranked No. 1 in the preseason poll. Other programs that saw both their squads inside the top five included Little Snake River, Upton, Big Horn, Thermopolis, Sundance, Cody, Douglas, Lander, Wheatland, and Campbell County.

Class 1A:

1 = Cokeville

2 = Southeast

3 = Burlington

4 = Little Snake River

5 = Upton

Class 2A:

1 = Wyoming Indian

2 = Tongue River

3 = Big Horn

4 = Thermopolis

5 = Sundance

Class 3A:

1 = Cody

2 = Douglas

3 = Lander

4 = Wheatland

5 = Powell

Class 4A:

1 = Sheridan

2 = East

3 = Central

4 = Campbell County

5 = Green River
