When American Idol began wayyyyyyyyy back in 2002 in the US, young people saw an opportunity to be a singing star. There's no doubt the show has changed the lives of many people. Some have become music icons and

Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Scotty McCreery, Gabby Barrett, Lauren Alaina, Jordin Sparks, Adam Lambert and Phillip Phillips are just a few that have greatly benefitted from Idol.

Not every person that has auditioned has become a star, but they'll always have the story that begins

back when I auditioned for American Idol

If you've always had the dream to be a famous singer, being on American Idol won't guarantee you fame, but it gets you in front of the right people.

There have been some from Wyoming that have had the chance to audition, but there hasn't been that one singer that blew the socks off of America or the Idol Judges.

This could be our year, though.

Virtual Auditions are coming up August 21st for Wyoming.

If you're interested in giving it a shot, you should go and reserve your time now.

There are a few things you need to be aware of, that may disqualify you from auditioning.

  • You have to have been born between 1994 - 2009 (have to be 15)
  • Have to be an American Citizen
  • If you're younger than 18, your guardian must be with you
  • Just because you register for a spot, doesn't mean you'll get to audition
  • You're NOT singing for the celebrity judges, you're singing for your chance to have a chance to sing in front of the judges
  • You will get feedback from the producers, but may not find out if you're going on until a later time.
  • You have to have the ZOOM program to do your audition
  • If you've won a past season of American Idol, you can't be on the show again.

Those are just a few of the regulations that I got from the registration form, you can read the rest and sign up here.

If you decide to sign up and give it a shot, let me know. Drew.Kirby@TownsquareMedia.com

Good Luck.

PICTURES: See Inside Carrie Underwood's Beautiful Post-'American Idol' Home

Carrie Underwood invested her money wisely after winning American Idol in 2005. One of her first big purchases was a 3,099-square-foot home in the well-to-do Nashville suburb of Franklin, Tenn. Underwood paid $384,000 for a luxurious 3-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom stone and stucco home in a private gated community.

The house features a library, a vaulted ceiling and lovely amenities throughout, but while it's very nice, it's certainly not the kind of home you'd picture for a budding country superstar. Underwood wound up being a huge success right out of the gate with her debut album, Some Hearts, and she sold the home in Franklin for $372,500 in 2007, when she purchased the Brentwood mansion that she would later share with her husband, Mike Fisher.
