It's interesting when a particular location seems to have a pull on you. Not a bad pull, but it just seems that you always end up going to that spot.

You know, if you're looking for a spot to hit for a day-trip or a weekend getaway. You may have a couple of places that are like that for you. I have several places I can jump into the truck and head there, but one of my favorites is the Wind River Canyon and Thermopolis.

Before I moved to Wyoming, I would travel to Wyoming to relax and explore. 2015 was the first time I drove through the canyon in amazement. If you had told me then that I would make regular trips through there, I wouldn't have believed you.

It's 2025, and for the last four years, I've been doing just that. Crazy, right?

Last summer, I was heading to spend the weekend at the Boysen Reservoir when I booked an Airbnb at the Wind River Cabins. The cabins are just over 7 miles from Boysen and a little over 12 miles from Thermopolis.

The drive alone is worth staying there, but then you experience the cabins, view, and the peaceful feeling you get when you stay there, and you'll be hooked. There are so many cool attractions in either direction from the cabins that you'll be able to head out on all kinds of adventures.

If you head toward Boysen, you can fish, swim, or boat on the reservoir, and take a little longer drive into Riverton for some gambling fun at the Casino.

If you decide to turn left and go into Thermopolis, you could hit the hot springs or maybe float the river. Check out the dinosaur center, or head into Kirby for a Wyoming Whiskey tasting. Thermopolis has some great eating spots too, like the One-Eyed Buffalo, P6 Station Pizza Shop, and top it off with putt-putt and ice cream at Dairyland.

Then, when you're ready to kick back and relax, head back into the canyon and get ready for tranquility and a peaceful evening at your cabin.
