I can remember my first football game in Laramie. Tailgaiting pre-game, getting fired up to walk through the gates, and finally making my way to my seats and looking down on the brown and gold painted Jonah Field turf. To this day, it gives me the chills.

Think of the memories fans, students, players, coaches, Western Thunder marching band students, and cheerleaders have made in that stadium. Names like Allen, Wilson, Crum, Novacek, Yarborough, Bramlet, Muma, and many other players used their time at the "War" to continue on to the NFL.

I've been a fan of college football for most of my life, so since social media knows that, I see a lot of college football posts in my feed. This week, I was scrolling and saw a post from Front Office Sports that was titled "College Football Stadiums with Amazing Views," and I wondered if War Memorial Stadium was on there, and sure enough, it was. Right after Northwestern's Martin Stadium and before Iowa's Kinnick Stadium.

I shouldn't have been surprised to see it on the list. It's a stadium everyone should visit to watch a game. From GoWyo.com:

One of the most picturesque football facilities in the nation, Jonah Field at War Memorial Stadium sits between the Rocky Mountains' Snowy Range to the west and the Laramie Range to the east and has been home to Cowboy football since 1950. "The War" is the highest NCAA Division I football stadium in the country at an elevation of 7,220 feet and seats 29,181 fans thanks to extensive renovations and upgrades over the past decade.

If you've never been, here are a couple of videos to give you a pretty good idea of why it was named one of the stadiums with an amazing view.

Just The Facts: Size Doesn't Matter For Wyoming's War Memorial Stadium

Did you know it would take the populations of Gillette (32,857), Laramie (32,381), Rock Springs (23,319), Sheridan (17,844) and Wright (1,200) to create a sellout inside Michigan's famed 107,601-seat Big House, the largest college football stadium in the nation?

For those of you not familiar with the Cowboy State, those are Wyoming's third through sixth most inhabited cities, along with the small mining town in Campbell County.
