Register Now For Pathfinder’s Popular Ice Fishing Derby

In Wyoming, we're lucky to have many options for spending time outdoors all year round.

When the calendar switches to a new year, events fill your schedule. One event that has been a part of Central Wyoming for decades is the annual HAWG Ice Fishing Derby at Pathfinder Reservoir.

Tickets are on sale now at Rocky Mountain Discount Sports, Wagner's Outdoor Outfitters, Sloane's General Store at Alcova, Pathfinder Marina, or online at HawgDerby.com.

Undoubtedly, anglers are eager to get out and use their augers to drill holes and pull fish out of the ice.

This year's grand prize for the first-place derby winner is a 2025 Crestliner 1240 Little Jon Boat with a trailer.

Excellent ice-fishing memories will be made, and there will be chances to win cash and prizes throughout the weekend. Door prizes, gun raffles, lady's raffles, youth lifetime fishing license, 50/50's, and a shot at a $25,000 prize. Not too shabby for getting out and ice fishing.

We're less than a month away; hopefully, the weather will cooperate. Last year, the Hawg Derby was canceled, so hopefully, Mother Nature will play along, and the ice levels on Pathfinder will be at a safe level come derby time.

Wyoming Game and Fish Department says the 'safe' ice thickness is at least 4".

Don't forget that all 2025 Wyoming Game and Fish regulations apply. All adult anglers will need a valid Wyoming fishing license and a conservation stamp to fish in the event.
