I'm sure you're familiar with the old saying, "There's a first time for everything." I know it's not always a good thing, but sometimes it is, and this time... it is! Casper Christian School's basketball team made it to its first-ever Class 1A regional basketball tournament.

That's big news for the Mountaineers.

To have a chance to play in the postseason is huge for any school, but when it's your first postseason, it's out of this world huge. Win or lose, gaining the experience will give the team something to build on for the program's future.

Their first postseason game was with Lingle-Ft. Laramie last night, unfortunately for the Mountaineers, they lost 72-21, but that doesn't mean their postseason play is finished. They'll have a chance to redeem themselves and move into Saturday play, when they take on H.E.M this morning at 10:30. The winner will play the loser of the Lusk/ Upton game tomorrow morning.

This group of young men has worked, sacrificed, battled, and believed — and now they get to compete on the regional court. What an incredible milestone for our program and our school family!

We all know that in sports, winning and losing matter, but at Casper Christian, it's not ALL about winning and losing.

While we love to compete — and our teams play with passion — our highest priority is the character of our athletes. We integrate Biblical principles into everything we do, helping students learn to:

Persevere through challenges
Serve their team selflessly
Lead with humility
Respect opponents, referees, and coaches
Honor God with their attitude and effort
We measure success not only by the scoreboard, but by the growth we see in our students throughout the season.

Congratulations, Mountaineers!  Good luck.
