Casper Community Gathers To Pack Winter Bags With United Way
Wyoming's population is somewhere around 587,000, give or take a thousand here or there. About 390,000 of us drink coffee. Which makes sense, given why there's a coffee shop on nearly every corner in Casper. I think going to a coffee shop is almost as popular as hitting up a bar; in fact, coffee shops may outnumber bars these days.
One of those shops is Metro Coffee, which has two locations in Casper, and their eastside location is hosting Coffee with a Cause on November 10 from 4 to 6 p.m. with the United Way of Natrona County.
Natrona County is one of the most generous counties in the state, with people always looking for a way to help their neighbors. The United Way of Natrona County is giving the community a way to volunteer by packing Warm-Up Bags while sipping complimentary hot chocolate or a steamer from Metro.
The bags will be stuffed with warm winter items like gloves, hats, scarves, hand warmers, and blankets to give to those in need. We all know how severe winters around Wyoming can get, and knowing that you've done your part to help keep a fellow Wyomingite warm will warm your heart, just like the hot chocolate will warm your body.
United Way of Natrona County Executive Director Annie Sorenson says this event is all about helping others.
Wyoming winters can be really tough, especially for those without a warm place to call home. We may not be able to
change someone’s circumstances in one afternoon, but we can offer a little comfort and remind them that their
community cares. That’s what this event is about.
