I was never very good at, and didn't really enjoy doing arts and craft, drawing or coloring as a kid. When it came to decorating pumpkins at Halloween, I was all in. Pulling the pumpkin guts out was my favorite, then smashing the pumpkin when Halloween was over, came in second. It was the parts between there that didn't appeal to me.

I get that the appeal of the Jack-o-lantern is for them to be a little creepy and odd looking. My problem was, I would lose interest and just rush through it. One of the pumpkin's eyes may not be cut out or I didn't cut along the lines properly and the marker was still showing.

Today, thanks to the internet, you can print a template and make the Jack-o-lantern really cool. They even sell full on carving kits, with multiple tools, instructions and tips to carve a great Jack-o-lantern.

If the internet, or social media, were around when I was a kid, maybe it would've been more appealing to me. I saw this reel, from @BrunchWithBabs on Instagram with all the instruction, tips and information, that can bring your pumpkin carving skills to the next level. Even showing ways to keep your carving experience less messy.

🎃The Do’s and Don’ts of Pumpkin Carving 🎃 It is a treasured tradition in our family to carve jack-o-lanterns for Halloween. But with all the yuck and mess, sometimes my kids would quit the project before we even started. Babs’ Do’s and Don’ts for Pumpkin Carving, saves the mess and speeds up carving with no mess and no fuss. Happy Halloween 🎃 XO Babs
