Casper Drivers Face Summer Construction Headaches Starting Now
June is bringing more than summer fun to Casper, but the sixth month is ushering in frustration as construction season is in full swing.

From the City of Casper:
The intersection of 15th Street and Wolcott Street will be closed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, June 1, through Friday, June 5, for traffic signal repair work.
This closure includes 15th Street from Durbin Street to Ash Street and Wolcott Street from College Drive to 14th Street.Crews will be boring new conduit and rewiring the intersection as part of a signal upgrade to improve reliability and safety. The signal upgrade is funded by the Natrona One Cent Sales Tax.
Before 6 a.m. and after 6 p.m., the signal will not be operational. This intersection will function as a temporary four-way stop until the signal is fully energized.
Access to local businesses will be maintained. Please plan an alternate route, follow posted detours, and use extra caution in the area. Share this with anyone who travels through the intersection of 15th and Wolcott.
Also beginning today, if you frequent Poplar, get ready to change your plans, too. From WYDOT District 2 Facebook:
The reconstruction of WYO 220 (Poplar Street) between CY Avenue and Collins Drive in Casper is set to begin next week.
Work will begin at the Collins/Poplar intersection, and the entire stretch (between Collins and CY) will be closed to through traffic.
Detours will be posted and will include Ash Street between Collins and CY for north and south traffic. 13th Street will remain open for east and west traffic.
Collins Drive will remain open, as will CY Avenue. Except work to begin Monday, June 1.
This is a two-year project that will upgrade the road surface, sidewalks, storm sewer, and water lines, among other improvements.
In addition to these projects, construction on I-25 is in full swing. There are random construction zones throughout the city, like Wyoming Boulevard near the Eastridge Mall and the 2nd Street intersection.
Just be safe, be alert, and be patient.
