Slayer Singer To Receive Key To City In Hometown

(Bravewords) SLAYER fan site Slayerized.com reports that Tom Araya, who was born in Vina del Mar (Chile) will receive the key to the city this week from Mayor Virginia Reginato. This Friday, Slayer will be playing in Tom's hometown for the first time.  An official ceremony will be held, in which Mayor Virginia Reginato will hand over the key to the city to Araya. This will be the first official recognition of Chile to Tom Araya, who left Chile at five years of age with his family for the US. Bravewords Has The Story Here

Coldplay To Release New Single On Friday

(FMQB) Coldplay will unleash a new single this Friday, marking their first new material in two years. The band posted a message today on Coldplay.com explaining, "We're about to play a bunch of summer festivals so it's as good a time as any to put out a new song. 'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall' will be available digitally on Friday June 3 at 12 p.m. (BST), except in the U.K. where it'll come out on the stroke of midnight between Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th June. We'll also stream it here on Friday and give it a run out at [German festival] Rock Im Park [on June 3]." Coldplay will perform at international festivals throughout June and July. They'll return to the U.S. to play Chicago's Lollapalooza in August and the Austin City Limits festival in September. It's unclear whether this new single will be on their forthcoming next album.


Pearl Jam Working On 10th album

(Gibson) Eddie Vedder said that Pearl Jam are hard at work on their new studio album, which will be the band’s tenth. The sessions come in the midst of Pearl Jam’s 20th anniversary year as a group, which is being commemorated in re-issues, a Wisconsin festival this summer and an upcoming Cameron Crowe-directed documentary.
