Grand Teton National Park Rangers on Sunday found a body that met the description of missing hiker and climber, Rene Dreiling, on the north side of Mount Owen, according to a prepared statement.

"We extend our thoughts and prayers to Rene's family, and to Grand Teton Lodge Company," Park Superintendent David Vela said in the prepared statement.

Rangers found the body on a rocky cliff band beneath steep snow fields during an aerial reconnaissance flight about 7 p.m. Sunday.

Rangers intended to recover the body Monday if weather conditions allowed.

Denver resident Dreiling, 21, was a summer employee of Grand Teton Lodge Company.

He was reported missing Friday when he did not arrive for his scheduled work shift at Colter Bay.

The park service investigation determined that he was last seen Wednesday morning along the northwest shore of Jenny Lake.

Dreiling told people he planned to climb Table Mountain and several peaks in Hanging Canyon.

About 100 people participated in the search for Dreiling.

Superintendent Vela thanked those who helped in the search, and commended park staff for their leadership and commitment during a difficult situation.

Park rangers encourage all hikers and climbers to share their planned route of travel and an expected return time with someone before their departure.
