Neutral Milk Hotel, Judas Priest and Nas Keep Austin’s Fun Fun Fun Fest Weird
It takes a lot for the Fun Fun Fun Fest to live up to its name, but the 2014 edition of the annual gathering in Austin seems primed to do just that.
The lineup for this year's FFF has been announced, with an eclectic bill highlighted by headliners Neutral Milk Hotel, Judas Priest, Nas, Death Cab for Cutie, Girl Talk and King Diamond. Fun Fun Fun Fest 2014 is scheduled to run Nov. 7-9 in the so-called Live Music Capital of the World.
FFF is billed as the only festival in America to feature genre-based stages that focus specifically on indie rock, hip-hop/electronica and punk/metal, and this year's fest will continue that tradition with the Orange stage (Alt-J, New Pornographers, Dinosaur Jr., Guided by Voices, City and Colour, Yo La Tengo), the Blue stage (Wiz Khalifa, 2 Chainz, Atmosphere, Flying Lotus, Sky Ferreira, Gary Numan) and the Black Stage (Death From Above 1979, Rocket From the Crypt, Blood Brothers, Black Lips, Sick of It All, Pallbearer). Check out the full lineup at the Fun Fun Fun Fest's official website.
"Each year, we try to bring Fun Fun Fun fans a unique and exciting lineup to top the year before," Bobby Garza, general manager at fest producer Transmission Events, said in a press release. "This year we feel we went above and beyond to give you an experience you can't find anywhere else."
Weekend passes for the ninth-annual FFF Fest go on sale today online at the fest's website. The three-day event will be held at Auditorium Shores and Butler Park in Austin, with lineups for an additional comedy stage that will be announced on July 1 and an action sports lineups announced in August.
