Ex-Black Flag Members Form FLAG, Announce Tour Dates
Former members of the pioneering SoCal hardcore band Black Flag have reunited to create a new outfit, FLAG. The group features Flag alumni Keith Morris, Chuck Dukowski and Bill Stevenson, as well as guitarist Stephen Egerton, who's played with Stevenson in ALL and the Descendents.
Although Black Flag called it quits in 1986, its members have remained active and influential in the music scene. Morris -- Black Flag’s original frontman -- went on to form Circle Jerks and the punk supergroup OFF!, which debuted at SXSW back in 2010. Stevenson and Egerton, meanwhile, are key members of the Descendents, who've signed on for this year’s Coachella festival.
FLAG plan on performing a plethora of songs from Black Flag's original repertoire and staying true to their groundbreaking style. Check out the confirmed tour dates below, and keep an eye out for more U.S. shows, which are expected later this year.
Interestingly, the FLAG news comes hours after Black Flag announced plans to reform its 1979 lineup -- which includes guitarist Greg Ginn and singer Ron Reyes, Morris' replacement -- and play England's Hevy Fest 2013 in August.
