The only thing better than being in your underwear in public is when you're doing it for a great cause. That's the theme behind the "Undy Run/Walk" event being hosted at City Park in Denver on Saturday, June 28th.

Benefiting the Colon Cancer Alliance, this fun-draiser offers a fun twist on a serious topic. While showing up in crotchless panties and ass-less chaps will probably get you arrested, feel free to don your boxers and enjoy day of being almost free!

Denver, CO – June 5, 2014 – Turn your underwear into outerwear for the upcoming Denver Undy Run/Walk. On June 28th, participants will hit the pavement in City Park donning family-friendly, underwear-themed outfits. Annually, theUndy Run/Walk benefits the Colon Cancer Alliance, and is appreciated in the Denver community as a cheeky way to raise awareness and funds to support a great cause.

The Undy Run/Walk isn’t just your everyday run. Instead of receiving a race day t-shirt, participants will receive a stylish pair of boxer shorts and will have the opportunity to take a stroll through a larger-than-life inflatable colon.  This creative and educational inflatable is a unique way for visitors to understand the disease.

A fun twist on a serious topic, the Undy Run/Walk is sparking much-needed conversations. From the moment you arrive, you will become both amused and enthused by the expressive attire. Some participants will sport their favorite pair of underwear, while others will dress as Santa Claus, a superhero or simply as a runner. Whatever your style, this is the place to express it.

In Colorado, colon cancer has left a bigger gap than some may think; there have been 1,720 diagnoses and 670 colon cancer deaths in the past year alone. Colon cancer is one of the most preventable cancers, yet it is still the second leading cause of cancer death in the U.S. More than 140,000 Americans will be diagnosed with colon cancer in 2014, and more than 50,000 will die from this disease.

The Denver Undy Run/Walk is working to improve these colon cancer statistics. Funds raised through this event will go to the University of Colorado Cancer Center’s Colorado Colorectal Screening Program. This statewide program partners with health care professionals to provide no cost colonoscopies to the underserved. By 2015, the program aims to raise the colon cancer screening rate to 80% of eligible Colorado residents. Nationally, Additional funds also support prevention, research and patient support initiatives at the Colon Cancer Alliance.

“People who attend this event have a great time and get an important message,” said Todd Setter, National Director of the Undy Run/Walk series. “If this event encourages even one person to get screened – then we are one step closer to accomplishing our mission.”
