(antiquiet) Long before Blink-182 became platinum selling punks, The Dead Milkmen were banging out highly satirical three-chord masterpieces.  While they never received the praise and success that Blink-182 has achieved, the group has been a cult favorite of skate punks for an entire generation.

When not attempting to win over Punk Rock Girls, the Philadelphia four piece has poked fun at butt-rockers (Bitchin’ Camaro), shared the tales of trailer trash youth (Stuart) and have even been accused of ruining the career of former Detroit Tigers infielder Jim Walewander.

It has been over 15 years since The Dead Milkmen have unleashed new music onto the world, but that’s about to change, and soon.  Recorded over multiple sessions during the later part of 2010, The King in Yellow is set for a Spring 2011 release.  Track titles include 13th Century BoyMelora Says and Caitlin’s Child.

The record will feature all original members with the exception of bassist Dave Schulthise.  Better known by his stage name Dave Blood, Schulthise took his own life by overdosing on pills in early 2004.  Dan Stevens, who is best known for his work with The Low Budgets (a Philadelphia punk act that featured fellow Milkmen Joseph “Joe Jack Talcum” Genaro) will be handling bass duties for the reunited group.

While no solid touring plans have been announced, vocalist Rodney Anonymous recently told Philebrity.com “We’ll be finishing up the final mixes in February and hopefully, releasing the CD in either March or April. Then we plan to skip town for awhile until this whole thing blows over.”

The band has done limited shows since reforming in 2004 in order to pay tribute to their fallen bassist.  Look for The King in Yellow to hit shelves in March or April.
