Dave Grohl performed his acoustic version of the Beatles' 'Blackbird' during the 'In Memoriam' tribute at the 88th annual Academy Awards on Sunday (Feb. 28). But before the show, the Foo Fighters frontman walked the red carpet and seemed to be in his usual good spirits during an interview with Chris Connelly.

When Connelly asked him how the Oscars compares to all the massive concerts he's played, Grohl said, "Everybody's surprisingly sober," to which Connelly quickly replied, "You know, you got here really early."

Grohl also said he agreed to perform at the Oscars because his daughter would think he was a "big wimp" if he turned down the offer. Check out the full video above.
