Dates Revealed for Gigantour Featuring Megadeth, Motorhead, Lacuna Coil + Volbeat
Back in September we brought you news about the 2012 Gigantour featuring Megadeth teaming up with Motorhead, Volbeat and Lacuna Coil, and now the dates for the epic tour have been announced. The bands, all hand-picked by Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine, offer up an eclectic mix of speed metal meets thrash meets rockabilly meets goth rock. That’s a whole lot of metal on one bill, and a lot of bang for your buck – just as Mustaine planned.
Legendary Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister is excited about the adventure and commented, “The whole bill is pretty diverse and I advise everyone who likes being deaf, and/or can lip-read already, to come out and see what the stuff that doesn’t get any MTV Video Awards sounds like! Gigantour is just that!”
This will be Lacuna Coil’s second round on Gigantour, they participated in the 2007 tour and will release their new album ‘Dark Adrenaline’ while out on the 2012 tour. Co-vocalist Cristina Scabbia shared her enthusiasm about being invited back, “WOW! Gigantour! I am super excited!! I mean are you kidding me? A tour with Megadeth, Motorhead, Vollbeat and us?” She continued to say, “This is going to be so crushing that I think the walls are gonna fall down in some of the venues!! Are you guys ready? I definitely am!”
Volbeat consider the tour a blessing, citing both Megadeth and Motorhead as huge inspirations, singer-guitarist Michael Poulsen talked about the invite, “To have the opportunity to go on the road and share the stage with these two legendary rock bands, is another dream come true in the Volbeat adventure.”
The tour gets under way in late January kicking off at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, N.J., and will run through February wrapping up at the Filmore Auditorium in Denver. Check out the full list of dates below to find out when the tour will be invading your neighborhood.
