Mired in a 3-game losing streak, the Wyoming Cowboys host the Utah State Aggies in their annual Homecoming game Saturday in Laramie.

Wyoming (2-5, 0-3) enters off a 27-3 loss at Fresno State last week. The Cowboys have gone 2 games without an offensive touchdown. They rank at or near the bottom of the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) in all major offensive statistical categories.

In the video above, redshirt freshman QB Tyler Vander Waal visited with KOWB’s David Settle about the Cowboys’ offensive struggles. Vander Waal says a lack of consistency is their biggest issue. He also briefly discussed the defensive looks they’ll see from the Aggies.

Utah State (5-1, 2-0) comes to Laramie leading the Mountain Division. The Aggies have victories over Air Force and UNLV in conference play. Unlike UW, they’ve had no trouble on offense this season. Utah State is averaging 51.7 points and 478.7 yards per game. Their attack is led by sophomore quarterback Jordan Love. He’s already thrown 14 touchdown passes, completes over 67 percent of his passes, and has a passing efficiency rating of 159.1.

This will be the 69th meeting in the series between the two schools. Wyoming has won the last two, but the Aggies lead the series with 38 wins compared to UW’s 26. There have been 4 ties. This is the fifth-longest series for the Pokes. The rivalry is now referred to as “Bridger’s Battle.” The winner is awarded each year the traveling “Bridger Rifle.”

Saturday is the 94th Homecoming game in Wyoming’s football history and the 69th to be played at War Memorial Stadium. Cowboys have won just over 51 percent of their Homecoming games all-time. Their record is better at the War, where they’ve won nearly 92 percent of Homecoming contests.

The game starts at 12:30 p.m. KOWB (AM 1290) will broadcast the game live. Coverage will begin with the KOWB Pokes Pregame Show from the Brown ‘N Gold Outlet at 9:30 a.m. with host David Settle live on location.
