Kelly Walsh High School will be holding a special ceremony on Friday, October 5th, to commission the new Marine JROTC (Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps) and dedicate a memorial to KW alumni who have given their lives in service of our country, and the community is invited to join the celebration.

According to officials, the KWHS “Ring of Honor” is located near the main entrance of Kelly Walsh and is a memorial to two alumni who were killed in Viet Nam and one who died in Iraq. Part of the event also includes the unveiling of the new “Fight On” bronze statue, which was created by Lander artist David Clark and stands over 14 feet tall. The statue has been in the works for more than four years, to install on the new KWHS campus.

According to a release, all KW students, faculty, and staff will be in attendance as well as invited guests. They'd also like to invite alumni, parents, Marines, and community members to attend.

The ceremony is scheduled for 2:30 pm on Friday, October 5th. It has been moved from the stadium to the gym, due to a forecast of inclement weather.
