Driving around Casper can be fun and sometimes educational. It can also lead to mysteries that appear to have no answers. For example, there's the right lane on Beverly that suddenly just disappears.

As a whole, Beverly is a unique Casper street. It's a 30 mph street that is 20 mph in the middle as it goes right by Casper Classical Academy. In the winter, it can be a real adventure since the hill near the top resembles a ski jump.

But, the most curious part of Beverly is the southbound lanes. Most of Beverly is 4 lanes until it meets 15th Street. That brings us to the mystery area.

If you're southbound and in the far right lane at 15th Street, you need to be aware that your part of Beverly is about to disappear. There's no sign announcing the disappearing lane. It just kind of...is gone. Suddenly, you'll occasionally see cars parked in what used to be a moving lane. Beverly just kind of expects you to instinctively merge left.

It's not like this is a big deal. You drive in Casper and you learn this habit. But, if you're new to town and wonder why the right lane just suddenly isn't there, I'm not sure what to tell you. It's one of Casper's many wonderful driving mysteries.
