BUCKCHERRY singer JOSH TODD and guitarist KEITH NELSON were real close to being a part of VELVET REVOLVER.  Todd revealed that he and Nelson played some cover songs with SLASH, DUFF MCKAGAN and MATT SORUM at a show in Los Angeles back in 2002 at the venue called the Key Club.  Todd said, "At the time, Keith and I were looking for new band members.  Three of the members from Buckcherry had quit."  So he and Nelson reached out to Slash, Duff and Sorum to "see if they wanted to start something.  They were thinking the same thing and we became a band."Todd said they were together for a month and "wrote about nine songs."  He adds that those songs "never got recorded or saw the light of day."  The band was eventually dissolved; Todd and Nelson were replaced by SCOTT WEILAND and DAVE KUSHNER and would go on to become VR.  However, the song "Dirty Little Thing" from their debut album Contraband gives writing credit to Nelson.
