BREAKING: Road Closed On Casper Mountain After Vehicle Fire

The Natrona County Sheriff's Office has closed Casper Mountain Road from Crimson Dawn to Columbine Road after a vehicle caught fire Saturday afternoon, Sgt. Aaron Shatto said.

The fire has been contained, and there probably were no injuries, Shatto said.

But, contrary to reports he's heard, the mountain itself is not on fire, he said.

Authorities responded to the vehicle fire at 2:58 p.m. about three miles north of where the paved road becomes a dirt road on South Circle Drive, Shatto said.

The road will be closed until at least 5 p.m., he added.
