I spent most of my "day off" working on this guitar project I have had on the backburner lately. Since I got it stained and reasonably good lookin', I thought I would send some shots your way.

This is the body being given a pre-treatment before the stain was put on. I routed out the body to be a hybrid of sorts- one part Gibson Melody Maker and one part Fender Stratocaster. There is only one pickup position, a single coil in the bridge. Speaking of bridges, it is my humble opinion that none are more "rock and roll" than the humble wraparound tailpiece. They seem to give the body an extra bit of sustain and tone, so that was the natural choice for me. Plus they just feel right under my hand.

This is the body after it had been stained. While I thought about ordering some fine instrument grade stain, I just decided the project had been taking too long and I just ran out to the hardware store and grabbed some old stuff off the shelf. I think it looks cool with a broken-in vibe.

pickguard and neck

Neck is ready to be bolted on, but I still need to rout out the pickguard to mount the pickup and controls and input jack. Got a Tonerider City Limits pickup to toss in there and a nice paper in oil capacitor, so I am hoping the sound is killer. I'll let you know when I can finally plug and play. Rock.
