Avenged Sevenfold are looking to bring their stage production to the next level. For 2017, the band has recruited some of the minds behind Cirque du Soleil to reinvent what can be accomplished with a live rock show.

Cirque du Soleil has become a worldwide phenomenon, especially during the 21st Century, becoming the world’s biggest theatrical producer. As one of rock and metal’s biggest active bands, Avenged Sevenfold’s stage show is already over the top, so we can’t wait to see what comes of this new creative partnership.

Avenged frontman M. Shadows spoke with Metal Hammer about what fans should expect. “The production that’s being built is different for us, different for anyone I’ve ever seen, the people we’ve hired don’t do tours, they do Cirque du Soleil,” Shadows said. “This is gonna be drawn out into different types of touring. We’re not going on tour for six months, it’ll be two weeks on, two weeks off.”

He continued, “It’ll be a longer cycle but we’re gonna roll with the punches. We’re an oddball. A lot of bands live, breathe and die the 2016 metal scene, but we just live in our own world and try to do things different than everyone else. I don’t ever feel like we fit in. We’re going to be whatever we feel is right, and if it changes the industry, then great.”

Avenged Sevenfold will be touring Europe in early 2017, beginning Jan. 10 in Scotland. Will we see the new stage show created by Cirque du Soleil’s producers? Stay tuned to Loudwire to find out.
