The Natrona County Sheriff's Office would like to have a word with the person or people who reportedly vandalized a historic church sometime between Saturday night and Tuesday morning.

According to a sheriff's office report, someone broke a glass window and window shutter to get into the Pioneer Church at the Natrona County Fairgrounds. The window was valued at $450.

Once inside, the suspect evidently grabbed a fire extinguisher and covered all the pews and equipment inside the church with extinguishing chemical.

Ali Wentz, an administrative assistant for Central Wyoming Fair and Rodeo, says the vandalism likely happened on Sunday night. A wedding was held at the church on Saturday.

And it's not the most recent vandalism to occur at the fairgrounds. Wentz said the door to the announcer's booth at the grandstand was kicked in Tuesday night.

The door itself, as well as the hinges and deadbolt, will have to be replaced. It's the second time in two weeks someone has entered the announcer's booth, Wentz added.

Wentz says the Fair and Rodeo will install cameras on its buildings following the latest vandalism. In the meantime, the sheriff's office will set up motion sensors and cameras.

Anyone with information on these crimes, or any other criminal activity, can call the Natrona County Sheriff's Office at 235-9282.
