While Antoine Fuqua prepares to release The Magnificent Seven, the director is already lining up his next project. 2016 Oscars Host Chris Rock Is ‘Writing a New Show’ Following Controversy
Although some in the industry had called for Chris Rock to join the boycott of the 2016 Oscars, the actor and comedian will host the show as planned — though there will be some changes. Rock has reportedly tossed out much of his material in order to address the #OscarsSoWhite controversy that’s inspired Spike Lee, Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith to boycott the ceremony, while the Academy has announced a sweeping initiative to increase diversity.
‘Batman v Superman’ Asks Fans Who Will Win in New Twitter Promo and Poster
The Man of Steel or the Dark Knight? Who will win in the epic fight between Batman and Superman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice? Bat fans may be banking on Batman, given his defeat of Superman in Frank Miller’s comics, while Supes fans will cite their hero’s unearthly super-powers as the deciding factor. If you have an opinion, director Zack Snyder wants to hear it, as he’s taken to Twitter to encourage fans to vote on which hero will win in the upcoming battle.
‘Avatar 2’ Delayed Again, Won’t Hit Theaters in 2017 as Planned
In news that will likely come as a surprise to absolutely no one, James Cameron’s Avatar 2 has been delayed yet again, and will no longer hit theaters in December 2017 as previously planned. This news comes on the heels of Disney’s decision to delay Star Wars: Episode VIII until December 2017, which would have pitted the two blockbusters against one another (unfortunately not in a fight to the death, Gladiator-style).
New ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Images and Details Reveal the Four Horsemen
As teased in the post-credits sting of X-Men: Days of Future Past, Apocalypse is coming and he’s bringing his four horsemen — okay, not the four horsemen we saw in that teaser scene, but a new set of horsemen: Magneto, Psylocke, Storm and Angel. 20th Century Fox has revealed some new photos of the characters who will play accessory to Oscar Isaac’s titular baddie, while some additional details have emerged about their role in X-Men: Apocalypse.
‘Independence Day: Resurgence’ Trailer: They’re Coming Back
Surprise! 20th Century Fox has delivered the first full trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence (not related to Toho’s Godzilla: Resurgence, unfortunately) a wee bit earlier than previously planned. The trailer was going to debut in front of Star Wars: The Force Awakens later this week, but early Christmas has come early, and our ol’ alien pals are back.
SNL Brings Will Ferrell’s George W. Bush Back for a Hilarious Announcement
Maybe you didn’t realize how much you missed Will Ferrell’s George W. Bush impression on SNL until the actor popped in for a surprise appearance during the cold open, delivering a State of the Union address on our current crop of GOP presidential hopefuls — which is essentially just Ferrell’s Dubbya roasting his fellow Republicans in an attempt to make an unprecedented bid for a third term as POTUS.
‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2’ Delivers First Trailer and an Official Title
In case you forgot because 80 percent of the real estate in your brain has been occupied by Star Wars, there's a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sequel on the way. Arrow star Stephen Amell plays hockey hero Casey Jones in the upcoming film, and the actor has revealed the first footage from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows — and oh yeah, that's the title.
SNL Ranked: Ryan Gosling Cracks Up in a Mostly Wonderful, Weird Episode
After taking a bit of a break from acting to make his directorial debut (and to have what I presume is a very adorable baby with Eva Mendes), Ryan Gosling is back. In addition to starring in upcoming films from Adam McKay and Shane Black, the actor is cementing his return with his SNL debut. Gosling can't keep a straight face through most of the episode, which delivers some really weird and delightful sketches with few disappointments. Read on for our ranking of this week's SNL sketches from best to worst.
‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Tickets Already Being Sold on eBay For $10,000
Well, that did not take long at all. While movie ticketing and theater websites are struggling to remain running (if they are at all, and as of now, many are not), some lucky fans have already snagged more than enough tickets for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and are selling their extras on eBay — at prices that would only be reasonable to a mentally insane person. And yet, someone will buy these. Someone will spend over $400 on Star Wars tickets. What a world.
Disney Officially Announces ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Ticket Pre-Sale Info
Following our early reports of Star Wars: The Force Awakens ticket pre-sales, Disney and Lucasfilm has confirmed the details of the advanced ticket sales. Tickets will officially be made available for pre-sale tomorrow night during ESPN’s Monday Night Football, timed to the release of the new — and final — official trailer for The Force Awakens.
SNL Ranked: Amy Schumer Absolutely Kills It, Obviously
Amy Schumer has had an incredible couple of years with her hit series Inside Amy Schumer, her collaboration with Judd Apatow for Trainwreck, and her upcoming HBO comedy special. When you’re this beloved, there’s one place you need to be: on the SNL stage. Schumer makes her SNL hosting debut tonight and absolutely kills it, delivering a complete 180 from whatever happened with last week's relentlessly humorless season premiere (can we just pretend this was the season premiere? OK). There’s so much to love in this consistently funny episode, where even the weakest sketch of the night is still quite delightful. Read on for this week’s sketches, ranked from best to worst.
