Happy New Year! OK now that I got that out, it's time to start the dreaded road to your resolution.

We've all made this mistake. For example: Working out for 60 minutes a day sounded easy after you finished off that bottle of Patron. What you didn't take into consideration is all the amazing bowl games that follow the New Year. With football comes shear laziness, booze, cheese on everything and lots of glorious chips.

If skipping out on your New Year's Resolution and giving in to what you really want sounds like a good idea, than this list of New Year's Resolution is for you!

NOTE: No one ever said you're not allowed to change your mind about your resolution the first week into the New Year. (Honestly, if they did say this - then screw em!)

This next list is going to consist of resolutions that you can do and honestly, they may sound insane, but hear me out......

    Drink More Caffeine!

Don't Fight It - Embrace It!

If your resolution is to drink less caffeine, think about increasing it instead! Yes, increase! According to WebMD

A growing body of research shows that coffee drinkers, compared to nondrinkers, are:

    • less likely to have type 2 diabetes, Parkinson's disease, and dementia
    • have fewer cases of certain cancers, heart rhythm problems, and strokes

That sounds good to me, plus I LOVE CAFFEINE! Can you tell? :-) This article goes on and on about how caffeine reduces heart disease, stroke, and Parkinson’s disease. Hello, why would you give up caffeine? I challenge you to add some caffeine in your life this New Year! Still thirsty? Well, after I grab another cup of coffee, I'll explain to you why you should drink more beer in the New Year!

    Drink More Beer!

Honey, Can You Grab Me A Beer? It's For My Health!

We've all heard how great it is for you to consume a glass of red wine per day right? Wouldn't the same benefits exist when it comes to beer? YES!

    According to Ask Men:

No matter what type of ale you prefer, studies show that drinking beer in moderation (up to 2 drinks a day for us guys) can and will reduce your chances of strokes, as well as heart and vascular disease.

GAME ON BEER DRINKERS! Stop cutting back, when it's obviously OK to drink. ;-) There's more: Like reduced coronary heart disease, decreased blood clots, and increased good cholesterol. Hell Beer contains Vitamin B6:

which prevents the build-up of the amino acid homocysteine, that has been linked to heart disease.

So drink up my friend and know that you are one more drink closer to your resolution! Next up, red meat! I'll show you why to love the red meat and not hate it, but first, where's my vitamin B?

    Eat More Red Meat!

    Steak It's What's For Dinner...If I Can Afford It?

If your resolution is to eat better, than this one is for you! First off, if you can afford a big, juicy piece of beef - than the New Year is treating you well and congrats. If you can't, it's time to get a sugar mama. You may want to start by convincing your sugar mama about the benefits of Red Meat, according to Slash Food:

    Benefits:

    • High in zinc, which is important for a healthy immune system.
    • Contains more iron than most foods, and it is more easily used by the body than iron from other sources
    • Also a good source of other vitamins and minerals, including phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, selenium and b vitamins.
    • Excellent source of complete proteins
    • A high-protein diet based on lean red meat has been shown to help weight loss

If she asks about the cons, just change the subject. :-) Fine, everything is good in moderation. What I'm saying is, don't completely delete red meat out of your life. It's OK, eat the meat! Up next, why you should sleep less in the New Year! You read that right!

    Get Less Sleep

No, You're NOT In Freddy Krueger Flick

I've always heard that you're supposed to get eight hours of sleep. But I work at least eight hours per day and I get paid for that. What if I could sleep less, work more, make more money? Well, if you follow resolution number 5 (drink more caffeine), I think this resolution will get easier. However, are there any benefits to getting less sleep? Lets start with Time:

The big surprise is that long sleep seems to start at 8 hr. Sleeping 8.5 hr. might really be a little worse than sleeping 5 hr.

OK so sleeping too long may kill you quicker. What about sleeping just one to two hours? According to Amo Life , some of the world's greatest thinkers did just that:

Some sources claim that the legendary artist Leonardo Da Vinci was able to stay awake and alert almost 22 hours of every day, all the while working on brilliant artworks and inventions. He slept only 1.5 - 2 hours a day taking a nap 15 - 20 minutes for every four hours that he was awake.

Da Vinci lived till he was 67. Not too bad if you ask me. Plus, as soon as I need to wear diapers, it's time for me to die. Next up, the Number One New Year's Resolution: Get Less Exercise!

    Exercise Less!

You Had Such A Rough Day, Relax!

And now to debunk the Number One New Year's Resolution: more exercise. Instead, concentrate more on relaxing and reducing your stress level. According to the NY Times:

In addition to the obvious psychological effects of relieving stress and mental tension, the new findings indicate, deep relaxation, if practiced regularly, can strengthen the immune system and produce a host of other medically valuable physiological changes.

So first concentrate on relaxing! Relaxation has been found to reduce viruses, lowering blood pressure and cholesterol levels. And relaxation makes it easier for your body to regulate glucose, hence those with diabetes will benefit from a little R&R. Discover ways to relax HERE.
