A 25-year-old Afton man died in a one-vehicle rollover accident south of the town early Sunday morning, according to a news release from the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

Kurt Jensen was driving a van north on U.S. Highway 89 at a high rate of speed, according to the news release from Patrol Sgt. David Wagener.

About two miles south of Afton, Jensen lost control of the van. It left the highway to the east, tripped and rolled.

Jensen was not wearing his seat belt, was ejected and died at the scene.

The news release did not specify the time the accident happened, but the Highway Patrol received the call about the crash at 2:38 a.m. Sunday.

The Highway Patrol is investigating excessive speed as the contributing factor in this crash.

This marked the 94th highway fatality in Wyoming for 2016, compared to 117 fatalities during this same time last year.
