Wyoming Highway 130 over the high country of the Snowy Range and Wyoming Highway 70 over Battle Pass are under extended closures. WYDOT will reevaluate conditions for potential reopening of the roads on Monday, Oct. 28.

The highways closed over the weekend due to winter weather and poor visibility. High winds, snowfall and four- to five-foot snow drifts on the highways have kept them closed since.

The Medicine Bow Snotel site at 10,500 feet in the Snowy Range is already recording a snow depth of 34 inches, according to WYDOT. The Old Battle Snotel site at 10,000 feet near Battle Pass reports 24 inches, the agency says.

The rest of the week is expected to bring even more snow and wind to both areas.
