With businesses cutting back within the coal and oil & gas fields, Wyomingites can find some solace knowing we ranked in the lowest brackets for tax burdens.

According to a new study done by credit improvement website, WalletHub, Wyoming ranked 42nd overall, which puts us in the top 10 states with the lowest tax burdens, along with other sparse populated areas like Alaska and South Dakota. Surprisingly enough, Texas was actually neck and neck with us in categories like individual income tax, property tax and total tax burden.

Some of the states with the highest total tax burden were Hawaii, Vermont, and Maine, with New York rounding out the worst of the worst.
