Wyoming Cowboys star quarterback Josh Allen has been in the spotlight for most of his collegiate football career. He's rumored to be the #1 pick in the NFL draft this evening. Unfortunately all of the spotlight on the California native has not been positive.

Earlier this morning (April 26th, 2018), some racially insensitive tweets that had been deleted from Allen's personal Twitter account have resurfaced on. According to a story posted by Yahoo Sports, the tweets read:

  • "i dont think you n**gas want a troubled son!" -- June 14, 2012
  • “N**gas Trying To Get At Me" -- February 12, 2013
  • "Bout to show up these N**gas at pong" -- February 26, 2012
  • "If it ain't white, it ain't right" -- June 25, 2013

Allen has since admitted the tweets were from his high school days. At least two of the tweets were pop culture references, one of the N-word tweets being a direct quote from a Rick Ross song and the "If it ain't white, it ain't right" tweet coming from an episode of Modern Family.

Allen personally contacted ESPN television personality Stephen A. Smith to apologize and stated he was "young and dumb".

If Allen is selected in the top thirteen picks, he will become the highest drafted Wyoming Cowboy football player in the school's history.
