A three-vehicle wreck on Interstate 25 near the Beverly Street exit forced the closure of the northbound lane and sent at least one person to the hospital Thursday afternoon, a witness said.

A pickup traveling northbound was forced to stop when the trailer it was towing swung into another lane.

An sport utility vehicle was behind the pickup, saw it had stopped, pulled over and its emergency flashers were activated, said David Cisco, the brother-in-law of the SUV driver.

However, a dually pickup towing a generator following the SUV apparently did not stop. The rear of that pickup clipped the SUV, which then flipped over. The dually pickup then hit the parked pickup, Cisco said.

Cisco received a call from his brother-in-law, who came for some personal items.

His brother-in-law was taken to the Wyoming Medical Center for treatment of what appeared to be minor injuries.

It is unknown what happened to the occupants of the two pickups.

After the accident happened, authorities blocked the westbound/northbound lane of I-25 from the Southeast Wyoming Boulevard/Curtis Street on-ramp to the on-ramp at Beverly Street. The rush-hour traffic had to travel west on East Second Street or the Yellowstone Highway.

The vehicles were removed by about 5:45 p.m., and traffic resumed in the northbound lane.

Ironically, Cisco's brother-in-law was in a parked vehicle that was third in line at a construction stop on the Old Glenrock Highway three weeks ago, he said. A speeding driver hit the car behind him that set off a chain reaction. The woman in the vehicle hit by the pickup later died.
