The new NBA season is just over a week away.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have locked up a key member of their squad. Reports are Tristan Thompson has signed a new deal that is fully guaranteed.

ESPN reports that the deal is worth $82 million and is fully guaranteed. Thompson had been a restricted free agent this past offseason, but had held out of team activities because he and the Cavaliers could not reach a contract agreement.

The Cavaliers open their season on Oct. 27 against the Chicago Bulls.

The NBA broadcast on AM 1400 ESPN.
