Very exciting news out of Third Man Records today: Jack White’s Nashville-based record label's year-old book publishing imprint, Third Man Books, has partnered with Consortium Book Sales & Distribution to distribute its titles in the U.S. and Canada.

“Third Man Books will continue in the manufacture and sale of beautiful things. Those things being books,” Third Man co-founders Chet Weise and Ben Swank said in a statement. “Much like the identity of our multiple Grammy-winning record label, Third Man Books will be based on adventure, bordering on recklessness, yet bound by craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail.”

“Our hope is that Third Man Books creates a new kind of literary community that we can learn from and add something back,” Swank adds. “In Consortium we find a kindred, independent partner who has a far reach and gets the job done, and also answers the phone to say, ‘Hello, how are you.’”

Third Man Books intends to print works in contemporary poetry, fiction, photography, biography and other genres and will continue to be paired with audio and visual companion pieces.

TMB put out its first publication, Language Lessons – an anthology containing poems from a wide range of authors that included C.D. Wright, Adrian Matejka, Richard Hell and more -- last summer.

This fall, TMB will release Hidden Water, a collection of previously unpublished poems by the late Frank Stanford. The Nashville press also has plans to release The Truth Is We Are Perfect by Janaka Stucky and Pain: The Board Game by Sampson Starkweather.
