The cost of drinking and driving in Casper is severe. The numbers are in and it is grim. From a study published by 24/7 Wall St, Casper doesn't have the highest percentage of binge or heavy drinkers nationally, but does have an alarmingly high mortality rate when it comes to drinking and driving.

First, Casper is the "drunkest" city in Wyoming. Now with that being said, there were only two cities in the study, Cheyenne and Casper. The article “The Drunkest City in Each State” states that Casper has a 17.6% of adults who binge drink or drink heavily. Cheyenne has a 15.2% heavy drinking rate. El Paso, Texas has the highest percentage of heavy drinkers with 56.2%, and Salt Lake City, Utah has the lowest percentage with only 12.6%. Looking at a national perspective, Wyoming is not too far from the average. Look deeper in the numbers and things get worse.

In Casper 43.9% of automotive deaths are alcohol related, which is 6th highest nationwide. The state with the highest mortality rate is Montana coming in at 52.2%. These numbers tell use that although the number of heavy drinkers are on the moderate side, the cost of drinking is catastrophic while driving.

The numbers don't lie. For the least populace state in the nation to have the 6th highest mortality rate because of alcohol, is a problem. If you drink, don't drive. Your life or someone else's life may be in your hands.
