The American Film Institute has listed  its top picks for films and television shows of the year.

For the first time ever, the AFI expanded the list to include 11 movies rather than 10. The movies this year are: American Sniper, Birdman, Boyhood, Foxcatcher, The Imitation Game, Interstellar, Into the Woods, Nightcrawler, Selma, Unbroken and Whiplash.

The AFI'S top picks for TV are:

The Americans, Fargo, Game of Thrones, How to Get Away with Murder, Jane the Virgin, The Knick, Mad Men, Orange is the New Black, Silicon Valley and Transparent.

All honorees will be recognized on January 9th at the annual AFI awards private luncheon in Los Angeles.
