Stooges

The rock and punk world has lost one of the greats as Stooges drummer Scott Asheton has passed away at the age of 64. Stooges frontman Iggy Pop revealed the news to fans via a post on his Facebook page, revealing that the drummer died Saturday night (March 15).

Iggy and the Stooges came, they saw and they conquered Austin's South by Southwest Wednesday night (March 13). The band, who are currently ramping up to the release of their 'Ready to Die' album, played both new songs and classics at Austin's Mohawk club.

The Stooges are working on their first new material since 2007′s ‘The Weirdness,’ bassist Mike Watt tells Rolling Stone. That said, Watt doesn’t know what the new tunes are for and isn’t sure if they mean a new album is in the works.
