It's a whole new world for Sum 41's Deryck Whibley. The frontman is embracing sobriety after an alcohol-related incident that left him in a coma and frail after his liver and kidneys collapsed.

The rocker admits that his world has significantly changed, with some of his friends from when he was drinking leaving while others who have gone through similar battles with alcohol showing him great support. In a new interview with Kerrang! (excerpted by NME), Whibley reveals that Iggy Pop, Tommy Lee, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum are among the rockers who have provided him great support as he continues his recovery.

The rocker explains, "Now I'm sober, I don't get calls from certain people that I used to … Now I'm the bum-out to them. Who wants to invite the sober guy to the party? Y'know who's been incredibly supportive? Iggy Pop. He had a lot of great advice. He's been through it all. We've been friends for years."

Whibley added, "Same for Tommy Lee from Motley Crue. He told me what to expect from people, that not everyone will understand. Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum from Guns N' Roses have been great too. We go out for coffee and talk about s--t."

The Sum 41 frontman revealed earlier this year exactly how dire things had gotten, as he posted to fans that if he had one more drink, he could die. In the time since his hospital stint, Whibley has been re-embracing his love for music. He met with former Sum 41 bandmate Dave "Brownsound" Baksh and recently hopped into the studio to work on new material.
