CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Sublette County Sheriff Stephen Haskell faces felony charges alleging he billed the county for uniform purchases placed before he took office early last year.

Haskell was charged Tuesday with three felony and two misdemeanor counts.

Efforts to reach Haskell for comment on Tuesday were not immediately successful.

He's set for a preliminary court appearance on Feb. 11.

Natrona County District Attorney Mike Blonigen is special prosecutor on the case. He wasn't available for comment Tuesday.

A Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation agent filed a court statement saying the Sublette County Commission requested an investigation into Haskell's billing of more than $11,000 for uniforms.

Haskell drew criticism for banning deputies from wearing cowboy hats and cowboy boots after he took office.
