Laramie County Community College officials continue to investigate what apparently was a false report about an active shooter at the campus Thursday morning, Laramie County Sheriff's Department Capt. Linda Gesell said.

The day started with a report of a distraught student at the college's science center, Gesell said.

Campus security was able to calm him down and everything was fine, she said.

But the Sheriff's Department soon received a report about an active shooter on the campus, Gesell said.

Authorities cleared the campus.

However, Sheriff's Department personnel found no evidence of any shooter.

Authorities are now at the campus crisis center sifting through details of the apparent false report.

According to a brief Facebook post from the school, no one was injured in the incident. No shots were fired and there was no active shooter.

Officials say there is no threat to campus.

We will update this story as more information is released.
